The United States and Canada will battle for a spot in the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championship final after USA demolished Czech Republic 7-0 to earn a place in the semifinal and a rematch against their rivals, Thursday at 3:30am et/12:30am pt.

Boston College forward John Gaudreau powered the American attack with three power play goals, Riley Barber scored twice and J.T. Miller and Ryan Hartman both added lone markers.

Defenceman Seth Jones also added four assists for Team USA.

Gaudreau is pleased with the way his team has been improving with the man advantage.

"The first couple of  games we started out slow (on the power play), but the last few games it's been clicking," said Gaudreau

The American three-goal scorer is also looking forward to the semifinal rematch against Canada.

"We're excited to get a chance to play them again, last time we played them it didn't go the way we wanted, but we are ready to play them tomorrow," said Gaudreau

Canada earned a bye through the quarterfinal round by virtue of winning Group B and has yet to be defeated in the tournament.

The teams already met in the round robin portion of the tournament where Canada edged USA 2-1.

In that contest, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ryan Strome scored first period goals and Malcolm Subban was stellar in net with 36 saves for the Canadians.

American keeper John Gibson was also solid in the loss to Canada, as he made 30 saves and was named his team's player of the game.

Canada has won eight of the last nine meetings against the U.S. at the World Juniors, with four of the last five games between the teams decided by one goal.

The Americans will also have defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere back in their lineup; he was suspended for one game for a stick infraction against Slovakia.
