ARE, Sweden -- Thomas Zangerl beat Austrian teammate Andreas Matt in a ski cross event Sunday for his first career freestyle World Cup victory, while Switzerland's Fanny Smith earned her second win in two days in the women's race.

It was Zangerl's first podium finish in more than three years. Armin Niederer of Switzerland was third.

Despite finishing ninth, Sweden's Victor Oehling Norberg kept the lead in the ski cross standings with 474 points, 10 points ahead of Matt. Germany's Daniel Bohnacker is third with 370 points.

With one event left in the season, Smith is now just five points behind Canada's Marielle Thompson, who came second in the women's race. Sandra Naeslund of Sweden finished third.
