AROSA, Switzerland -- Matthew Morison earned a silver in the men's parallel slalom while Canadian teammate Caroline Calve took bronze in the women's event Sunday at a World Cup snowboard event.

Morison, from Kamloops, B.C., lost to Slovenia's Rok Marguc in the men's final.

Marguc won his first career World Cup gold to follow up on the world championship gold he won in the parallel slalom in January. He had three previous podium finishes on the World Cup -- the last one coming two years ago in Moscow.

Anton Unterkofler of Austria was third after his opponent in the small final, Patrick Bussler of Germany, failed to finish.

In the women's race, Hilde-Katrine Engeli of Norway beat Patrizia Kummer of Switzerland in the final. Montreal's Calve was third, beating Alena Zavarzina of Russia in the small final. Calve moved into first place overall in the World Cup rankings with the result.

Engeli won the parallel slalom world championship title in 2011, but had never been on the podium at a World Cup event before.
