The Saskatchewan Roughriders have acquired DE Alex Hall from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, a move that should see their sack totals increase moving forward.
Saskatchewan sent non-import offensive lineman Patrick Neufeld and a 2015 fourth-round draft pick to the Blue Bombers for Hall and a 2014 second-round draft pick.
In his second year in the league, Hall has a league-leading 15 sacks. The East Division All-Star also has 31 tackles and three fumble recoveries.
Neufeld has started 13 of 17 regular season games he's played in for the Roughriders.
“Alex has been a great player for us over the past two seasons, however, we feel this move will be positive for the long term betterment of the football team,” acting General Manager Kyle Walters said in a team statement. “We thank Alex for his tireless efforts and professionalism with us and wish him the best moving forward.”
“In Patrick, we are receiving a Canadian offensive tackle who has experience in our league and who we feel can upgrade our offensive line.”
Hall will become a free agent at the end of this season and will reportedly look for a deal in the NFL.
