WINNIPEG -- Devin Setoguchi is excited at the prospect of perhaps playing on the same Winnipeg Jets line as Evander Kane.

"He's a pretty special player and a pretty electric player, so it will be something that would be very exciting," Setoguchi said Monday.

The Jets obtained Setoguchi's services from the Minnesota Wild last week for a second round draft pick in the 2014 NHL draft. He's in the last year of a contract that pays him $3.25 million for this season.

The Jets have been looking for another top-six right-winger to anchor the other end of their No. 2 line featuring Kane.

It remains to be seen who will get the job. Earlier the Jets acquired Michael Frolik from the Chicago Blackhawks for a third and fifth round pick in this year's NHL entry draft.

"You never know what happens until you get to camp," said Setoguchi, who learned he was being traded while attending a friend's wedding in Mexico.

He played two seasons with the Wild, his second NHL team. In 2008-09, his best of four seasons with the San Jose Sharks, Setoguchi scored 31 goals and added 34 assists.

In 48 games last season for the Wild, he had 13 goals and 14 assists.

Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has said Setoguchi and Frolik make the team much better.

Setoguchi said he is excited at the chance to play more than he did last season with the Wild and like's the idea of joining a young team.

He also said as a Canadian, he knows what to expect from the fans at the MTS Centre -- although he never played there.

"There's going to be pressure but that's why we play," he said.

As for his style, he says he likes to play a two-way game and use his speed as much as possible and he isn't afraid to use his body.

He played left wing for Minnesota last season but says he prefers the right side.

The Alberta native's parents still live in Taber and he hasn't had a chance to talk to them much but he said he knows they're excited to see him back in Canada.
