Not one to sugarcoat anything, Pierre McGuire 'tells it like it is' as hockey analyst for TSN and TSN Radio. McGuire provides a unique perspective of the game, giving viewers the analysis and commentary they want – and need – to hear.

McGuire provides analysis for TSN’s coverage of the IIHF World Junior Championship, TradeCentre and NHL Entry Draft.

As one of the game’s most passionate and knowledgeable analysts, McGuire won the 2008 Gemini Award for Best Game Analyst for his work on the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship: Gold Final. This marked the second consecutive Best Game Analyst Gemini Award for McGuire, who won the award in 2007 for his work on TSN’s NHL broadcasts, including the NHL on TSN, which took home the 2007 Gemini Award for Best Sports Analysis or Commentary Program, Series or Segment. McGuire has also been selected several times by The Hockey News as one of the game’s 100 most powerful and influential people.

McGuire joined TSN in 1999 as a guest analyst and soon after made his way into TSN’s regular lineup on various hockey shows. McGuire joined TSN after a successful coaching and scouting career in the NHL, where he won two Stanley Cup championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 2000 and 2001, McGuire became a fixture on TSN’s hockey coverage as a regular analyst on Molson That’s Hockey, Molson That’s Hockey 2 and Molson Canadian Leafs Hockey.

McGuire has covered hockey at three Olympic Games, including Vancouver 2010 where he served as the game analyst for the Men’s Gold Medal game between Canada and the USA. He covered hockey at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City for TSN and the 2006 Winter Games in Turin for TSN and NBC.

McGuire began his broadcasting career in 1997 as a radio colour commentator for the Montreal Canadiens. He served as an analyst on Habs This Week and also on pre-game shows for the Ottawa Senators.

McGuire is a full-time a game analyst for NHL broadcasts on NBC, writes a hockey column for Sports Illustrated and previously wrote for the Pittsburgh Tribune.
