The Boston Bruins have acquired defenceman Wade Redden from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a conditional 2014 seventh-round draft pick.

In 23 games with the Blues this season, Redden has scored two goals and three assists.

The Blues signed Redden to a one-year, $800,000 contract this season after he had his previous contract bought out by the New York Rangers. His previous deal called for him to make a $10 million between this season and 2013-14 with a salary cap hit of $6.5 million per year.

He is slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Originally drafted second overall by the New York Islanders at the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Redden has scored 108 goals and 347 assists in 1,017 career NHL games with the Ottawa Senators, Rangers and Blues.

A long-time Senator, Redden was a teammate of current Bruins captain Zdeno Chara for several years.
