Hantuchova beats Schiavone to reach semis of Aegon Classic

BIRMINGHAM, England - Daniela Hantuchova came from a set and 4-1 down to beat former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone and advance to the semifinals of the grass-court Aegon Classic on Friday.

Hantuchova won 6-7 (8), 6-4, 7-6 (3) to record another upset in a rain-affected week at the Wimbledon warm-up tournament in Birmingham.

Donna Vekic, a 16-year-old Croat, thrashed third-seeded Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-1, while No. 16 Magdalena Rybarikova was also an impressive winner, easing past Madison Keys 6-3, 6-0.

Fifth-seeded Sabine Lisicki, the 2011 Wimbledon finalist, was playing Alison Riske in the other quarterfinal later Friday.
