Bouchard draws Govortsova in first round of U.S. Open
Eugenie Bouchard of Montreal will play Olga Govortsova in the first round of the US Open. Bouchard could potentially play third-seeded Kvitova, who defeated her in the Wimbledon final, in the quarter-final round. Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova moved into the semifinals of the Connecticut Open with a 6-4, 6-1 win Thursday over Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. Zahlavova Strycova took an early lead by breaking Kvitova's serve in the third game of the match between two Czech players. Full Story.
Third-seeded Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Que., and four-time champion Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark both suffered straight-set upsets Wednesday in the second round of the Connecticut Open. Bouchard, who played with her left thigh wrapped, lost 6-2, 6-2 to Australian Samantha Stosur. Full Story.
