Ilya Bryzgalov's goaltending debut with the Edmonton Oilers came in relief on Monday night.
Bryzgalov replaced starter Devan Dubnyk midway through the second period after the Oilers fell behind the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-0 at Rexall Place. The Oilers would lose 5-1 to the Blackhawks.
The Oilers signed Bryzgalov to a one-year, $2 million contract earlier this month after shedding payroll by dealing defenceman Ladislav Smid to the Flames.
After a short stint with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL, Bryzgalov was called up last Monday but had yet to appear in a game with the Oilers.
