TORONTO - Adam Lind wasn't in the Blue Jays' starting lineup on Friday for a second consecutive night due to a sore back.

"It feels good. Just going to be cautious," said Lind. "There's no real reason to push it right now but I'll definitely play again before the season ends."

Lind was available to pinch hit and to play first base should late-game strategy require it. He didn't want to start, experience pain and then have to remove himself from the game.

The 30-year-old, who's battled back problems for a number of seasons, is proud that he was able to avoid the disabled list this season.

"Ultimately, probably, my number one goal over numbers or statistics or anything of that nature," said Lind. "I've only missed, if you include yesterday and today, four games out of 162 that I was unavailable for so I consider that a very good accomplishment."

As for a Saturday start against the Rays, "You know, get out onto the field one more time," said Lind. "I know we've got one of their big lefties throwing on Sunday so I may not be in there anyways. I really want to finish this season on the playing field."

Lind attributes his ability to stay healthy this year to an improved off-season training regimen, which includes yoga. He'll be back at it later this fall.

"Same thing," he said. "Just rest first and then I'll get back into it."
