Canada defeated Brazil in the deciding doubles match on Saturday to win the Fed Cup Americas Zone promotional playoff in Medellin, Colombia.

The victory means Canada returns to the World Group II playoff in April.

The Canadian pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Sharon Fichman outlasted Brazil's Laura Pigossi and Teliana Pereira 7-6(4), 7-5 to clinch the rubber.

Dabrowski and Fichman closed out the series on their fourth match point opportunity.

Earlier in the day on the clay courts, Brazil won the first singles match as Paula Cristina Goncalves beat Fichman 0-6, 6-0, 6-4.

In the second singles match, Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Quebec defeated Teliana Pereira 6-2, 6-2 to even the series.

Brazil and Canada each won their groups in pool play to advance to the final rubber.

Canada has been out of World Group II since being relegated by Slovenia in April, 2011. The draw to determine Canada's next opponent will take place on Wednesday.
