Flames place G Kiprusoff, C Backlund on injured reserve

The Calgary Flames have placed G Miikka Kiprusoff and C Mikael Backlund on injured reserve.

Kiprusoff was placed on IR retroactive to February 5th with a Grade 1 MCL sprain. He is expected to miss approximately one week, according to a team release. Backlund is out with a Grade 2 MCL sprain and could miss 4-6 weeks, according to the release.

In seven games this season Kiprusoff is 2-3-2 with a .870 save percentage and 3.23 goals against average. Backlund had three goals and four points in eight games this season.

Calgary also activated D Anton Babchuk from the IR and recalled C Ben Street.
