Report: Flames' Hudler has neck sliced by skate but is okay

Calgary Flames prized off-season free-agent acquisition Jiri Hudler was taken to hospital Wednesday after taking a skate to the neck during a Czech league game.

Fortunately, Hudler escaped any major damage.

"He's got couple stitches but the blade didnt hit artery. Incident took place in 59. minute of the game," reported play-by-play announcer Roman Jedlicka on Twitter.  It's the second time Hudler has been injured while playng overseas during the NHL Lockout. He suffered an abdominal injury after playing four games earlier int he season for Lev Praha of the KHL.

He returned to the ice last week with Czech Leage team Trinec and scored two goals in his debut, but was hurt in just his second game back.

Calgary signed Hudler to a four-year, $16 million contract last summer after scoring 25 goals and 50 points in 81 games for Detroit during the last NHL season.
