Halifax Moosehead forward Jonathan Drouin will remain a member of Canada's World Junior Hockey team, Hockey Canada confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday morning prior to their opening matchup against Germany.

Hockey Canada confirmed that Drouin has been registered as the 23rd man on the Canadian roster.

Drouin's status was put in doubt after he sustained a mild charleyhorse injury in practice on Tuesday and the team to only register 22 players on its official roster, leaving one spot open in case the 17-year-old winger was not able to compete in the tournament.

The injury appeared to happen near the end of the on-ice workout when Drouin was involved in an awkward collision during a drill. After getting up he skated gingerly from the attacking zone to the defensive blue line and was seen wincing as he stretched out his leg.

Drouin has skated with Ryan Strome and Brett Ritchie as part of Canada's second line and has also logged time as part of the second power play unit.

The Canadian team will already be down a man as Boone Jenner serves the first game of his three match suspension for a late hit in Saturday's pre-tournament game against Sweden.
