Tottenham midfielder Etienne Capoue will miss the next four weeks after suffering a sprained ankle in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Capoue was carried off the field on a stretcher following a second-half collision with Arsenal's Santi Cazorla.

"Capoue was immediately taken to hospital to consult with a foot and ankle specialist," a statement read on Tottenham's website. "Early indications suggest the France international will be unavailable for a period of four weeks."

The summer signing is now likely to miss Premier League matches against Norwich, Cardiff City and Chelsea, a Capital One Cup trip to Aston Villa and Spurs' Europa League group opener against Tromso.
