TURIN, Italy -- Juventus is on the verge of signing Nicolas Anelka, who arrived in Turin for a medical on Saturday.

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta says the club has agreed to a deal with Anelka until the end of the season, with the option for a further year.

Marotta says "it can be a good move for the short-term, then at the end of the season we'll evaluate what must be done."

On his arrival at Turin airport, Anelka said, "I'm very happy to be here."

Reports say the 33-year-old former France forward will undergo the medical on Sunday.

Juventus will be Anelka's 10th club. He has previously played for Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Fenerbahce, Bolton, Chelsea and Shanghai Shenhua.

The deal is reported to be worth (euro)600,000 ($800,000) to Anelka, plus performance-related bonuses.
