MONTREAL -- Montreal Impact scoring star Marco Di Vaio says he may retire at the end of the season.

The 37-year-old striker said Wednesday that he wants to play another season in Montreal, but that family concerns may cause him to hang up his boots. He said his wife and two children have returned to Italy and he wants to be with them.

"If my family was here it would be different, I'd play another year for sure," he said.

He recently took a brief trip to Italy to attend to an illness in his family.

Reports in Italy said Di Vaio is expected to join his former club Bologna in an executive job after the Major League Soccer season.

The Rome native leads MLS with 17 goals. He was named player of the week for his two goals in a 4-2 victory at New England on Saturday.

Di Vaio, who earns a guaranteed $1.9 million, joined Montreal as its first designated player last season. He has an option to return in 2014.
