Toronto FC reportedly could be on the way to signing an international star as their latest designated player.

The Globe and Mail is reporting that Uruguayan forward Diego Forlan could be unveiled as a member of the team as early as this week.

The 34-year-old was one of the stars of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where he shared the tournament lead for the most goals scored and was awarded the Golden Ball as best player in the tournament.

Over the course of his career, Forlan has played for Manchester United, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and his current club Brazil's Internacional.

Toronto FC is currently second last in the Eastern Conference sitting ahead of D.C. United for the bottom position.
