Road to the World Cup - UEFA Playoff Draw

Eight European teams get a second chance at qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, as the top second-place finishers from the group stage fight for a place in the Finals. Each match-up is a home-and-home aggregate.

Iceland vs. Croatia

Iceland is looking to make history with its first-ever World Cup berth. If they are to seal the deal they'll likely need help from top scorers Gylfi Sigurdsson and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.

If you didn't know any better, you'd think Croatia's World Cup aspirations were already dashed. They fired head coach Igor Stimac after a 2-0 loss to Scotland, but remain alive in the playoff round.

Greece vs. Romania

Greece tied Bosnia and Herzegovina atop Group G but was forced into the playoff round via goal-differential. The stingy Greek team allowed just four goals in 10 qualifiers.

Romania got some help from the Netherlands and slipped by Turkey on the final day of Group D qualifying to reach the playoff round. They are seeking their first World Cup berth since 1998.

Portugal vs. Sweden

A costly draw with Israel in their penultimate qualifier allowed Russia to lock up top spot in Group F. Portugal used the playoff round to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, beating Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Believe it or not, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never scored a World Cup goal. The 32-year-old may be running out of time to do so, which may motivate Sweden to its first World Cup since 2006.

Ukraine vs. France

Ukraine enters the playoff round after having pushed England all the way through to the last day of group stage play. They are looking for their first major tournament berth in the post-Shevchenko era.

France once again looks to the playoff round to make the World Cup after Thierry Henry's infamous hand-ball got them into South Africa over the Republic of Ireland in 2010.
