It was a tough start for Canada's men's team as they opened the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow on Friday.

The men's team dropped their opening test 31-12 against the group-favourite New Zealand All Blacks.

The loss dropped Canada to last in Pool D by virtue of points differential and means that Canada will likely have to win both their remaining matches if they hope to qualify for the top-tier Cup playoff section of the draw.

Canada's next game will be against the United States on Saturday at 2:06am et/11pm pt. Canada also faces off against Georgia on Saturday at 5:46 am et/2:46am pt.

The women's team - ranked third in the world in sevens - will start their World Cup campaign on Saturday playing the Netherlands, Tunisia and New Zealand.
