MELBOURNE, Australia -- Australia flyhalf James O'Connor has a left shoulder injury and could miss one to two weeks for the Melbourne Rebels in Super Rugby, just five weeks from the start of the British and Irish Lions test series.

The Rebels said Sunday that O'Connor damaged his left sternoclavicular joint against the Blues in Auckland on Saturday. Although scans on Sunday ruled out a fracture, the Wallaby playmaker is in doubt for the Rebels' match against South Africa's Stormers next Friday in Melbourne.

O'Connor, who is expected to lead the Wallabies at No. 10 against the Lions, was injured in the early stages of the 36-32 Rebels loss and was unable to continue after initially playing through the injury.

The first of three Lions tests is June 22 in Brisbane.
