Preakness champ has workout for Belmont Stakes

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas sent his two Belmont Stakes candidates out Thursday morning for six-furlong workouts in preparation for the 1 1/2-mile Test of the Champion on June 8.

Preakness winner Oxbow covered the distance in 1:14 3/5 while stablemate Will Take Charge went 1:15 4/5 over a fast track.

Working five furlongs on Thursday at Churchill Downs was Kentucky Derby runner-up Golden Soul. Trained by Dallas Stewart, the colt went the distance in 1:00 2/5.

Wednesday at Churchill, Code West worked five furlongs in 1:00 3/5 for trainer Bob Baffert. The Hall of Fame trainer also had Power Broker work Wednesday morning. The colt covered six furlongs in 1:13 1/5.
