NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly is in Sochi, Russia, to talk about possible participation in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Daly is among a group of league personnel meeting with the International Olympic Committee, International Ice Hockey Federation and local organizing committees this week.
"I would hope to be in a position where this is resolved one way or the other by the end of this month," Daly told NHL.com Saturday.
Daly told NHL.com that the league is on track to present the concept of Olympic participation to the Board of Governors "at an appropriate time," but stressed that present discussions have been on a conceptual level.
NHL players have taken part in the Winter Olympics since Nagano in 1998, but with the 2014 Games less than a year away, an agreement still has to be reached on their participation at Sochi.
