Flames make qualifying offers to Backlund, Brodie, seven others

The Calgary Flames issued qualifying offers to restricted free agent forwards Mikael Backlund, Carter Bancks, Lance Bouma, T.J. Brodie, Paul Byron and Greg Nemisz on Tuesday as well as defencemen Chris Breen, Chris Butler and Mark Cundari.

Akim Aliu, Bryan Cameron, Brady Lamb and Gaelan Patterson did not receive qualifying offers and will become unrestricted free agents on Friday.
