The Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Danny Kristo to the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Christian Thomas.

Thomas, the son of former NHLer Steve Thomas, played one game in the NHL for the Rangers last season and was held pointless.

In 73 games with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League, he had 19 goals and 16 assists.

The 21-year-old forward was selected in the second round, 40th overall, of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Rangers.

Kristo split last season between the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL and the University of North Dakota.

In nine games with the Bulldogs, he picked up three assists and two penalty minutes.

The Eden Prarie, Minnesota native was drafted 56th overall, in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Canadiens.
