The Winnipeg Jets have recalled defenceman Zach Redmond from his conditioning assignment with the St. John's IceCaps.

The 24-year-old rookie was assigned to St. John's for conditioning last week, as he works his way back from a scary injury situation in February.

Redmond was accidentally cut by a teammate's skate during a drill in practice, and suffered a gash to his right femoral artery and vein. He was taken to hospital where he underwent a three-hour surgery to repair the injury.

The Houston, Texas native played in eight games with the Jets this season collecting one goal and three assists, with 12 penalty minutes.

Redmond was originally drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 NHL Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers.
