Unrestricted free agent Scott Gomez has travelled with the San Jose Sharks to Calgary, but he has still not signed a contract with the team.

The Sharks open their season against the Flames on Sunday night, while Gomez is scheduled for more testing.

Gomez became a free agent last week when his contract was bought out by the Montreal Canadiens.

Gomez played 38 games with Montreal last season, posting two goals and nine assists.

Prior to his three seasons in Montreal, the Anchorage, Alaska native played for the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils.

Gomez was originally drafted in the first round, 27th overall by the Devils in the 1998 NHL Draft.
