With the April 3 NHL Trade Deadline looming, teams are making decisions on whether to buy or sell and deciding which players can make the biggest difference and hold the greatest value.

Check out today's trade rumours and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca each day until Deadline Day for all the updates.

On The Market?

During the Countdown to TradeCentre show on TSN on Tuesday night, the panel discussed a list of five players that could be on the move. The list was made up of Colorado Avalanche forward Paul Stastny, New York Islanders defencemen Mark Streit, and forwards Brenden Morrow of the Dallas Stars, Drew Stafford of the Buffalo Sabres as well as Tyler Kennedy of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Oil Spill?

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports that, if the Oilers are still out of contention when the deadline arrives, defenceman Ryan Whitney and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin could be moved.

The report states the St. Louis Blues could be a team in the market for Whitney's services.

Penguins looking at Iginla, Johnson?

According to Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Penguins would be interested in Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla should the Flames decided to move him. Iginla is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and was a linemate of Sidney Crosby during the 2010 Olympics.

In the same report, Rossi states that the Penguins could also be interested in Columbus Blue Jackets' defenceman Jack Johnson. Johnson however doesn't appear to be on the market according to The Columbus Dispatch's Aaron Portzline who spoke to GM Jarmo Kekalainen.

"It's silly. I don't usually respond to this kind of stuff, but this is just silly," Kekalainen told Portzline. "I went to watch a game. (Pens GM) Ray Shero is a friend of mine."

The Best Getting Better?

Despite having earned at least one point in each of their 23 games this season, the Chicago Blackhawks are still looking to improve.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN spoke to Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman who told LeBrun that he's called teams about players that he's looking for.

"I'm probably more looking up front, depth maybe at center," Bowman said. "Not high-end but more a role-playing type center."

Clowe on the Go?

Comcast SportsNet's San Jose Sharks Insider Kevin Kurz tweeted on Tuesday night that, "Lots of Eastern Conference scouts at the game again tonight, including Boston, who some think are scouting Ryane Clowe."

The Waiting Game

Michael Russo of the Star Tribune says Minnesota Wild GM Chuck Fletcher hasn't spoken to the agents of upcoming UFA's Matt Cullen, Niklas Backstrom and Pierre-Marc Bouchard about new deals yet, as he's taking a wait and see approach with the deadline.

"That's not to say we won't do something in the next few weeks, but right now we're trying to get a sense of where everybody fits," Fletcher said. "I'm curious to see how we play the next month."
