(Sports Network) - New England Patriots running back Shane Vereen will reportedly be sidelined a few weeks after breaking a small bone in his wrist.

According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, Vereen suffered the injury during the first play of Sunday's season-opening 23-21 win at Buffalo. Vereen totaled 101 yards on 14 carries and added 58 yards on seven receptions, but Glazer reported that Vereen experienced numbness after the game as the bone sat on the nerve.

Vereen is scheduled to have surgery Monday.
