Kansas Jayhawks forward Andrew Wiggins of Vaughan, Ont. is on the cover of this week's Sports Illustrated as college basketball season begins in just a few weeks.
Wiggins, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward, was the top prospect in the class of 2013 and is widely considered to go first overall in the 2014 NBA draft.
In the cover story, SI writer Luke Winn compares Wiggins to Kansas alumni Wilt Chamberlain and Danny Manning.
"The notion of what Andrew Wiggins could be, if he can cultivate a relentlessness to pair with his talent, is why he is being received differently - even at a school that's won nine straight regular-season Big 12 titles and has two other potential first-rounders in guard Wayne Selden and center Joel Embiid," wrote Winn in the story. "Even in a college town that's seen this already, twice."
Wiggins, who who averaged 23.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game last season at Huntington Prep, chose Kansas over Kentucky, North Carolina and Florida State. He was also the recipient of last year's Gatorade Boys National Basketball Player of the Year and Naismith Foundation national awards.
