MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens have signed free agent forward Stefan Fournier to a three-year contract.

Also on Saturday, the team announced the signings of free agents Nick Tarnasky, Martin St-Pierre, and Robert Mayer.

Fournier had 35 goals and 72 points for the Memorial Cup-champion Halifax Mooseheads in the 2012-13 regular season.

He added 16 goals and 13 assists in 17 playoff contests, including three points in the tournament final last May in Saskatoon.

The six-foot-three, 212-pounder from Dorval, Que., also led his team with 100 penalty minutes in the regular season and maintained a +17 plus/minus differential.

He is currently taking part in his first Canadiens' development camp.

Tarnasky was most recently in the Buffalo Sabres system and played 74 games for the AHL Rochester Americans last season. He had 16 goals and 10 assists and led the team with 138 penalty minutes.

The 28-year-old has played in 245 NHL games with Tampa Bay, Nashville, and Florida.

St-Pierre, 29, also played in the AHL last year with the Rockford IceHogs, and affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. He had 26 goals and 33 assists in 76 games. St-Pierre has appeared in 38 NHL games for Chicago, Boston, and Ottawa.

Mayer, 23, signed a two-year, two-way contract after playing 38 games for Montreal's affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, last season. He originally signed as a free agent with Montreal in September, 2008.
