We continue Round One of TSN.ca's 2013 Play of the Year Showdown with a classic Northeast division match-up. The Leafs-Habs rivalry hits the POY Showdown as Toronto Maple Leaf winger Joffrey Lupul goes head-to-head with centre Lars Eller of the Montreal Canadiens.
Lupul's POY candidate is a long-distance entry. Lupul picks up the puck in the Leafs' defensive zone, and begins his coast-to-coast journey by blowing past a tired Hurricanes forward. What happens next is one of the best goals scored by a Leafs player this year, and a strong POY candidate.
Eller's entry into the POY relies heavily on teammate Alex Galchenyuk's initial push through three Buffalo Sabres players and into the offensive zone. After a flourish of moves, Galchenyuk moves the puck across to Eller, who finishes off this POY entry with quick moves and soft hands.
