Canadian welterweight Pierson forced to drop off UFC 158 card

TORONTO -- Canadian welterweight Sean (The Punisher) Pierson is off the UFC 158 card due to medical issues.

The UFC said the 170-pounder from Pickering, Ont., wasn't cleared medically.

Quinn Mulhern will take his place against Rick (The Horror) Story (14-6) on the March 16 card at Montreal's Bell Centre. Mulhern (18-2) will be making his UFC debut. He won three of his last four in Strikeforce.

Pierson (13-6) had won his last two fights in the UFC.
