The Blue Jays have agreed to terms with free agent catcher Dioner Navarro on a two-year deal worth $8 million.
The contract will pay Navarro $3 million in 2014 and $5 million in 2015.
The 29-year-old backstop was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free-agent in 2000 and has also spent time with Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs.
The Caracas, Venezuela native posted a .300 batting average with 13 home runs in 89 games for the Cubs last season.
He has a career average of .251 with 54 home runs since making his debut with the Yankees in 2004.
