Days after drastically slashing their payroll in a massive trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Miami Marlins have reportedly went out to the free agent market to rebuild their club.
According to CBSSports.com, outfielder Juan Pierre has agreed to a deal to return to the Marlins.
Juan C. Rodriguez of The Sun Sentinel is reporting that the deal is for one-year that will pay Pierre $1.6M.
The 35-year-old, who played with the Marlins from 2003-05, hit .307 with 37 stolen bases for the Philadelphia Phillies last season.
Pierre has led the Majors in stolen bases three times in his 13-year career and is a lifetime .297 hitter.
