Toronto, ON – Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced the signing of 11 players following Toronto's rookie and free agent camp which was held over the weekend at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario.
Headlining the list of Rock signings is 2013 first round pick (9th overall) Ethan O'Connor. The 22-year old Milton, Ontario native agreed to a one-year contract and is the highest player selected by the Rock since the team selected Garrett Billings (6th overall) and Joel Dalgarno (7th overall) in the 2009 NLL draft.
“There was some real competition this weekend,” said Sanderson. “We were very impressed with the work ethic of the players in camp over the two days. Having said that, it's November and there's a long way to go and with main camp beginning this weekend, there's still a lot of work to be done.”
Other 2013 draft selections coming to terms on one-year agreements were second round pick Mike Woods (15th overall), third round pick Eric Law (28th overall) and fifth rounder Alex Lubczuk (44th overall). 2012 second round draft pick Bradley Kri also signed a one-year contract.
Veteran forward Brenden Thenhaus, who was a free agent after finishing the 2013 season on Toronto's practice roster, attended the Rock's camp over the weekend and has also agreed to a one-year deal.
Other free agents inking one-year agreements were goaltender Craig Wende, forward Jeff Swift and defenders Eric Pitre, Dustin Dunn and Craig England.
All signings are pending league approval.
