Rookie Matthews scores five to lead Rush over Mammoth

DENVER -- Edmonton rookie Mark Matthews scored five goals to help the Rush (3-4) get back into the mix in the West Division standings with a 14-7 win over the Colorado Mammoth (2-4) in NLL play Saturday

Matthews, who had six goals in Friday's 15-10 win over Washington, also had an assist for Edmonton.

Curtis Knight scored twice, and the Rush got singles from Corey Small, Chirs Corbell, Ryan Dilks, Ryan Ward, Alex Turner, Zack Greer and Cory Conway. Small also helped out with four assists.

John Grant, Jr., had three goals for Colorado. Adam Jones had a pair, while Mat MacLeod and Richard Morgan rounded out the scoring for the Mammoth.

Edmonton led 7-5 going into the fourth quarter, and put the game out of reach scoring four times by the 2:37 mark.

Rush goalie Aaron Bold was strong with 35 saves on 42 shots while Colorado goaltenders Matt Roik and Dan Lewis combined for just 39 stops on 53 shots.
