The Edmonton Rush released forward Scott Evans following the first training camp session on the weekend.

"Releasing Scott was not an easy decision but I need to do what I think is best for the future of the Edmonton Rush," said Rush head coach and general manager Derek Keenan.

In two seasons with the Rush, the eight-year veteran scored 50 goals and added 43 assists for 93 points in 25 games. He spent the first six years of his NLL career with the Rochester Knighthawks.

"Scott Evans has been a good player in the NLL for many years but the direction of this team is to be younger and more athletic and we needed to make room on our roster for younger players on the right side of our offense," added Keenan.

Over the summer, the Peterborough, Ontario native played a major role in helping his hometown Lakers capture the Mann Cup.
