Forward Alex Ovechkin was not on the ice for practice with the Washington Capitals on Wednesday and the team said he is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Capitals head coach Adam Oates said Ovechkin was injured in the first period against the Vancouver Canucks on Monday and clarified it was not a head injury.
Ovechkin was tripped up by Alexander Edler as he drove to the net and was awarded a penalty shot on the play.
The Capitals have returned from their west coast road trip and Oates didn't know if Ovechkin would play against the Flyers in Philadelphia on Friday.
This season, Ovechkin has scored 10 goals and added five assists for 15 points in 12 games.
