The Edmonton Oilers will have to continue their push for the playoffs without winger Ales Hemsky for about a week.
The team said on Twitter that Hemsky is recovering from a foot injury that he has been trying to play through recently.
"He's tried to play through it and showed a lot of courage, but it's gotten worse now and he needs to rest," said Oilers coach Ralph Krueger.
In 38 games this season, Hemsky has scored nine goals and 11 assists.
The Oilers currently sit 12th in the Western Conference and are five points back of Detroit for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Oilers have eight games remaining in the regular season.
