One day after losing Scott Hartnell for four-to-eight weeks with a broken foot, the Philadelphia Flyers have suffered another significant injury.
General manager Paul Holmgren told the media Friday that defenceman Andrej Meszaros, who was hurt on Thursday night against the Rangers, will miss four weeks with a muscle injury in his left shoulder.
"Right now we're hoping that it's about a four-week rehabilitation of the injury," Holgren said. "It's a muscle injury in and around his shoulder joint. We've just got to try to get it stronger."
The club recalled Andreas Lilja from AHL Adirondack to fill help fill the void.
"He's played very good for the Phantoms," Holmgren said of Lilja. "He's a good guy; he's got lots of life to his game."
The Flyers have just one win in four games so far this season and play next on Saturday in Florida against the Panthers.
