Each week, The Reporters put their thumbs out to the good and the bad in the world of sports. This week they discuss Luis Suarez, John Farrell, Blainville-Boisbriand GM Joel Bouchard, and the availabilty of Maple Leafs playoff tickets.

Bruce Arthur, National Post: My thumb is down to Luis Suarez, although I'm going to quickly withdraw the thumb in case Suarez is around. Suarez is the talented Liverpool striker who this week bit Branislav Ivanovic on the arm during a match. Ok, he got a 10-game ban, we're all against biting, and that's fantastic. But here's the thing, Suarez has done this before – in 2010 he bit another player. Mike Tyson got on Twitter and said ‘You know what Luis, it happens.' But even Tyson knew that if you're going to bite somebody, you only ever do it once.

Steve Simmons, SUN Media: My thumb is reluctantly up to John Farrell, manager of the Boston Red Sox, who essentially walked out on the Blue Jays for his dream job in Boston. You know how this thing shaped up: the Red Sox were supposed to be lousy; the Blue Jays were supposed to be great; and Farrell was going to rehab the careers of Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz. Well look what's happened: the Red Sox have the best record in baseball and in games that Buchholz and Lester have pitched the team's record is 10-0. Farrell is looking like the genius he never looked like in Toronto.

Michael Farber, Sports Illustrated: My thumb is up to Joel Bouchard, a general manager in the QMJHL, who knew when to behave like a man. The Baie-Comeau and Blainville-Boisbriand brawl was boys being boys. Once in a while a man has to be a man and that's what Bouchard, a former NHL defenceman, did. He yanked his boys off the ice; nobody else got hurt. He was the adult in the room.

Dave Hodge, TSN: It should have been thumbs up all around to the Maple Leafs and their long-suffering fans when a limited number of playoff tickets were offered for sale online this week. But alas, there were problems. Technical glitches; computer screens were shaken; phone lines were jammed; swearing took place to match that of the previous nine years when there was an understandable reason for the unavailability of playoff tickets. This time, there were no playoff tickets because even the Internet had trouble believing the Leafs were in the playoffs.
