CFL on TSN analyst Matt Dunigan breaks down the quarterback situation for each team heading into the 2012 regular season.
Travis Lulay, Montana State (4th CFL, 4th BC)
Lulay is the reigning MOP in the CFL and he earned that title. Lulay "IS" what all clubs are looking for in their relentless search for a quarterback. He's a diligent student of the game with a hunger for getting better each time out. Lulay is durable, tough, and mobile and he has ideal size.
He is a natural leader with a sense of humility that makes him even more appealing. Travis looked like he picked up where he left off from last year as he was deadly during the preseason.
Lulay started last seasons with four receivers that had never caught a pass in the CFL, along with Geroy! Think about what they accomplished last season, where they started and how they finished. Travis and Co. should be way ahead of the game this year and pre-season indicates all that and then some!
Mike Reilly, Central Washington (3rd CFL/3rd BC)
From what I've seen and when I've had the chance to talk with this kid, Reilly's the real deal. Strong armed and primed to seize his opportunity when it presents itself. Remember, he made Jarious Jackson expendable for a reason. The only problem is, he has a young Travis Lulay in front of him. So how is he going to get any quality playing time? I believe this kid is not far from being a No.1 in this league, he just needs the opportunity.
Thomas DeMarco, Old Dominion (1st CFL/1st BC)
As for DeMarco (aka Lil Dunigan) Time will tell... All that I can say is DeMarco better bring it when he gets his chance, which will no doubt be a ways off with Lulay and Reilly in front of him. Remember this though, Lulay had Pierce, Jackson and Printers in front of him just a few years ago!
