Hey CFL fans and all you number crunchers, here's some more staggering number discrepancies (thanks to CFL on TSN statistician Jon Perlberg) between the starting QB's in the East (Grizzled Vets) and the starting QB's in the West (Young Guns).
Notice each QB's rushing totals, rushing touchdowns and fumbles. This is a stat I'd like to see more of when we compare QB's head-to-head when they compete against each other. I know and believe that this is a huge part of being productive at the QB position in our great game.
A QB needs to have the ability, willingness and desire to exploit defences in the CFL with his legs. You don't have to be the fastest or the most elusive guy on the field but you must be able to make plays with your feet. That's buying extra time in the pocket, extending a play, pulling the rock down for a critical first down or attacking the edge of a defence, keeping the end man on the line of scrimmage honest all the while opening up running lanes for your running backs.

The starting QB's in the East have thrown for 138,656 more combined yards than their West counterparts. That's nearly 127 km!
It doesn't hurt that the East has three of only nine QB's in CFL history to pass for over 40,000 yards, including #1 all-time in Anthony Calvillo with over 67 km passing alone! That is followed up by #7 Henry Burris and #9 Ricky Ray.
On top of the vast differential in passing yards, the East has 10,368 more completions, 790 more TD passes, 421 more INTs. They also have 7,951 more rushing yards, 95 more rushing TD's and 220 more fumbles!
These are just some more crazy facts that highlight the discrepancies between the starting QB's in the East and West; something I have not seen in all my years associated with this great game of ours!
2012 is going to be a boatload of fun! Stay tuned for another angle on the East vs. West arms race.
Ready Break!!!
