OWEN SOUND, Ont. -- Gemel Smith scored his fourth goal of the game 2:24 into overtime, as the Owen Sound Attack edged the visiting Sudbury Wolves 7-6 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.
Smith, who opened his season with a hat trick against the Mississauga Steelheads, leads the OHL with nine goals in four games. The four-point outing also set a new career high.
Zach Nastasiuk scored twice and tacked on an assist for the Attack (2-1-1), whose offence is averaging five goals a game, while Kurtis Gabriel had three assists.
Ethan Szypula's first-career goal rounded out the scoring for Owen Sound.
Nicholas Baptiste and Nathan Pancel scored two goals apiece for the Wolves (1-1-1) as Ray Huether and Jacob Harris added singles.
Brandon Hope made 28 saves for the win. Troy Timpano allowed seven goals on 35 shots in a losing cause.
Owen Sound scored twice on seven power-play opportunities while Sudbury went 3 for 7.
Bulls 4 IceDogs 3
BELLEVILLE, Ont., -- Garret Hooey scored three times, including the winner with 13 seconds left in regulation, as the Bulls slipped past Niagara.
Luke Cairns scored once and added two assists for Belleville (1-2-1) while Jason Da Silva made 28 saves for the win.
Brendan Perlini had two goals and three points for the IceDogs (0-2-1) and Carter Verhaeghe had a goal and an assist. Christopher Festarini stopped 37 shots in a losing cause.
Spitfires 8 Otters 4
WINDSOR, Ont., -- Kerby Rychel scored three goals and had two assists as the Spitfires doubled up Erie.
Brady Vail had two goals and two assists for Windsor (1-2-0) and Josh Ho-Sang scored once and tacked on three assists.
Nikita Yazkov and Ben Johnson also scored for the Spitfires while Yazkov added two assists for a three-point night.
Stephen Harper and Andre Burakovsky each had a goal and an assist for the Otters (2-2-1) and Connor Brown and Michael Curtis added single goals.
Dalen Kuchmey made 32 saves for his first OHL victory while Devin Williams allowed eight goals on 34 shots in defeat.
Colts 4 Greyhounds 3 (SO)
SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont., -- Andreas Athanasiou, Zach Hall and Mitchell Theoret all scored in the shootout as Barrie edged the Greyhounds.
Aaron Ekblad, Erik Bradford and Hall scored in regulation for the Colts (3-1-0) and Tyson Fawcett chipped in two assists.
Sergey Tolchinsky had a hat trick for Sault Ste. Marie (2-0-1).
Alex Fotinos stopped 30 shots for the win while Matt Murray took the loss after giving up three goals on 28 shots.
Battalion 3 Spirit 2
SAGINAW, Mich., -- Brenden Miller scored the eventual winner as North Bay came from behind to beat the Spirit.
Matt MacLeod and Brett McKenzie also scored for the Battalion (3-2-0), who trailed 2-0 midway through the second period, and Jake Smith made 22 saves for the win.
Zach Bratina and Nick Moutrey supplied the scoring for Saginaw (1-4-0) while Nikita Serebryakov turned away 30 shots in defeat.
