QMJHL: Sylvester lifts Sagueneens over Cataractes in OT

SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Sebastien Sylvestre scored twice, including the winner 4:39 into overtime, as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens edged the Shawinigan Cataractes 3-2 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

The 19-year-old forward has a point in each of his first three games to start the season and has five points total, to lead Chicoutimi.

Loik Levelle also scored for the Sagueneens (3-0-0) while Sylvestre added an assist for a three-point outing.

Alexis D'Aoust scored twice for the Cataractes (0-2-1) and Felix-Antoine Bergeron assisted on both.

Julio Billia turned away 30-of-32 shots for his second win in as many starts. Despite picking up the loss, Marvin Cupper earned the game's first star by making 43 saves.

Chicoutimi went 1 for 4 on the power play as Shawinigan scored once on two chances with the man advantage.

Islanders 5 Screaming Eagles 4

SYDNEY, N.S. -- Jack Nevins scored once and set up two more and Troy Vance and Yan Pavel Laplante each had a goal and an assist as Charlottetown edged Cape Breton.

Anthony Cortese and Deverick Ottereyes both scored for the Islanders (3-0-0), while Antoine Bibeau turned away 28 shots for the victory.

Cameron Darcy led the Screaming Eagles (0-2-1) offensively with two goals and an assist and Julien Pelletier and Clark Bishop scored the others. Maxime Lagace made 32 saves in defeat.

Mooseheads 5 Wildcats 2

MONCTON, N.B. -- Andrew Ryan and Nikolaj Ehlers combined for four goals and seven points as Halifax downed the Wildcats.

Connor Moynihan also scored for the Mooseheads (1-2-0) and Brent Andrews chipped in with three assists. Zachary Fucale stopped 18-of-20 shots for the win.

Conor Garland scored both goals for Moncton (1-2-0) as Alex Dubeau made 27 saves in the loss.

Armada 4 Phoenix 2

SHERBROOKE, Que., -- Nikita Jevpalovs had two goals and an assist and Ryan Tesink had three assists as Blainville-Boisbriand doubled up the Phoenix.

Danick Martel and Daniel Walcott also scored for the Armada (3-0-0) as Guillaume Decelles made 24 saves for the win.

Carl Neill and Axel Rioux supplied the offence for Sherbrooke (0-3-0) while Francis Desrosiers stopped 29-of-32 shots in defeat.

Drakkar 7 Remparts 4

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. -- Alexis Vanier scored twice and added three assists as the Drakkar downed Quebec.

Jeremy Gregoire and Denis Gorbunov each had two goals for Baie-Comeau (1-1-0) and Nicolas Meloche rounded out the scoring with a single goal.

Anthony Duclair had a pair of goals for the Remparts (0-2-1) while Fabrice Herzog and Cody Donaghey added a goal apiece.

Philippe Cadorette made 14 saves for the win. Francois Brassard picked up the loss after allowing six goals against on 31 shots in 43 minutes of action. Callum Booth replaced Brassard in the third and stopped 8-of-9 shots in relief.

Voltigeurs 2 Oceanic 1

RIMOUSKI, Que. -- Jeremy Auger scored the winner with 1:07 to play in the third as Drummondville slipped past the Oceanic.

Charles-David Beaudoin also scored for the Voltigeurs (3-0-0) and Louis-Philip Guindon made 21 saves for the victory.

Peter Trainor scored a power-play goal late in the first period for Rimouski (2-1-0) as Philippe Desrosiers turned away 26 shots in defeat.

Huskies 5 Tigres 1

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. -- Jean-Sebastien Dea scored twice and Carl Hozjan only had to make 12 saves as the Huskies beat Victoriaville.

Liam O'Brien, Dillon Fournier and Steve Mercier each scored once for Rouyn-Noranda (1-1-1) and Maxime St-Cyr added two assists.

Angelo Miceli scored the lone goal for the Tigres (2-1-0) while Brandon Whitney stopped 32-of-37 shots in the loss.

Foreurs 5 Olympiques 0

VAL-D'OR, Que. -- Francois Tremblay stopped all 20 shots he faced and Anthony Mantha scored three goals as the Foreurs blanked Gatineau.

Pierre-Maxime Poudrier and Randy Gazzola also scored for Val-d'Or (1-2-0) and Louick Marcotte had three assists.

The Olympiques (2-1-0) failed to score on seven power-play opportunities as Robert Steeves made 27 saves in defeat.
