Matthew Highmore scored twice and Connor Donaghey had a goal and two assists as the Saint John Sea Dogs defeated the visiting Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 4-2 in Wednesday's Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.
Marcus Cuomo tallied two assists and Stephen Anderson had a single for the Sea Dogs (22-37-1), while Sebastien Auger stopped 39 of 41 shots.
Clark Bishop and Stephen Woodworth replied for the Screaming Eagles and Alex Bureau made 30 of 34 saves for Cape Breton (12-41-8).
After Bishop scored the opening goal at 4:22, Highmore and Donaghey combined forces to tie the game. Highmore took a great pass from Donaghey and scored his third of the year with a quick, low shot that beat Bureau at 5:11.
Cape Breton outshot the Sea Dogs 23-6 in the second, with Woodworth making it 2-1 when he beat Auger at 5:43.
Donaghey made it 2-2 at 2:43 of the final frame and eight minutes later Highmore scored his second of the game for the go-ahead goal.
Anderson's goal at 11:45 put the Sea Dogs ahead by two.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Sherbrooke 2 Rimouski 1 (OT); Halifax 4 Shawinigan 2; and P.E.I. 3 Gatineau 2.

At Rimouski, Jean-Christophe Laflamme scored his second goal of the game in overtime as Sherbrooke (18-35-7) edged the Oceanic (38-14-9).

At Shawinigan, Martin Frk had a goal and an assist while NHL prospect Jonathan Drouin scored his 37th of the year with an empty-netter as Halifax (50-6-3) doubled the Cataractes (14-40-7) to win its eighth straight.

At Gatineau, Matej Beran scored the winning goal late in the third period as P.E.I. (35-22-3) got by the Olympiques (27-30-3).
