Argonauts release DB Anderson, RB Johnson

The Toronto Argonauts have released running back Jeremiah Johnson.

Johnson, 27, has run for 110 yards in 2014 on 21 carries for an average of 5.2 yards. He also has one touchdown reception amongst the 15 catches he has on the season, averaging 7.5 yards.

He was signed by the Argonauts in January, 2013.

Also released by the Argos on Tuesday was defensive back Dwight Anderson.

Anderson is in his eighth CFL season and was acquired by the Argonauts via trade from the Saskatchewan Roughriders on July 7.

He has 345 career tackles and 19 interceptions over his eight seasons with the Argonauts, Roughriders, Montreal Alouettes, Calgary Stampeders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

He has three tackles this season, all coming with Saskatchewan.

The Argos also released wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield on Tuesday.
