Rey Williams' time in Hamilton is over.
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released their starting middle LB of the past two years.
"We'd like to thank Rey for his contributions to the Tiger-Cats organization during his two years in Hamilton," general manager and head coach Kent Austin said. "Rey was a true professional and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
Williams returned from a stint in the NFL to sign with the Ticats in 2011. In two years with Hamilton, the 32-year-old recorded 185 tackles, eight sacks, and two interceptions. The Hofstra product was named an East Division All-Star last season.
Prior to his NFL stint, Williams was with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for three seasons, picking up 97 tackles and six sacks.
Hamilton acquired LB Simoni Lawrence in a trade with the Edmonton Eskimos earlier this off-season and also signed former Winnipeg Blue Bombers LB Marcellus Bowman in free agency.
